In 2021, The Ocean Cleanup began deploying Interceptors in Kingston Harbour, Jamaica. Kington contains many smaller rivers and gullies, requiring a variety of Interceptor designs to prevent waste from flowing through these rivers toward the Caribbean Sea. The Ocean Cleanup has introduced the Interceptor Barrier and the Interceptor Guard, used to halt debris at the mouth of a small river or canal, alongside the Interceptor Tender, a small barge with a conveyor belt to scoop up the intercepted trash.<\/p>
After successful trials in three of Kingston\u2019s gullies, we have begun deploying the remaining Interceptors 008-018 in waterways throughout Kingston. As always, this t-shirt is made from certified organic cotton, using renewable energy and eco-friendly inks, and is part of a circular economy for clothing, meaning no waste, ever.<\/p>
